Top International Primary Schools in Bangkok 2026-2027

What "Tier 1" means in the Bangkok Primary School market
Not every school that calls itself "premier" or "leading" is operating at the same level. We define Tier 1 by four conditions, all of which must apply:
Published fees in the upper band of the Bangkok market across the school, with senior-year tuition broadly 800,000 THB and above (before additional fees)
Full continuum from primary through to Year 13 or Grade 12, on the same campus or within the same group
Formal curriculum authorization (IB World School, British curriculum with UK accreditation, or accredited American programme)
A meaningful operating history in Bangkok of 15 years or more
This filter excludes schools that may be excellent but are mid-tier on price, newer to the market, or operating primary-only without secondary continuity. It is not a judgment on quality. It is a definition for this specific list.
Tier 1 here refers to schools whose published fees sit at the top of the Bangkok market across the school (senior-year tuition roughly 800,000 THB and above), full primary-to-secondary continuums.

What primary fees actually look like at Tier 1
A directional picture for 2026-27 at Tier 1 primary level:
Years 1 to 3: broadly 600,000 to 800,000 THB per year, before additional fees
Years 4 to 6: broadly 700,000 to 900,000 THB per year, before additional fees
These are headline tuition figures. The realistic all-in cost is typically 15 to 25 percent above the headline figure once registration, capital or development fees, lunch, bus, and uniform are included. At a Tier 1 primary in an entry year, when capital fees apply, the gap can be larger.
Specific figures vary significantly across the schools on the list. The fee breakdown tool at bkkschools.com shows side-by-side comparisons using each school's published 2026-27 schedule, with all additional fees itemized.
Bangkok primary school admissions: what to know
A few things that apply across all Tier 1 primary schools in Bangkok, regardless of curriculum:
Application timing. Most Tier 1 schools open applications for the following August intake from September or October of the preceding year. Popular entry points (Year 1, Year 3, Year 7) fill earliest. For families relocating to Bangkok, we recommend beginning the admissions process at least six months before your intended start date. For mid-year entry, contact admissions offices directly, as availability depends on the year group.
Assessment. Tier 1 schools typically assess applicants for primary entry through a combination of: previous school report or transfer documents, an age-appropriate cognitive or readiness assessment, and a meeting with parents. From Year 3 onwards, an English-language assessment is standard. Some schools also assess maths from Year 3 upwards.
EAL (English as an Additional Language). Most Tier 1 primary schools offer EAL support, but admissions policies vary. Some schools place a cap on the percentage of EAL students per year group; others assess EAL applicants on whether the support available matches the child's needs. If your child is not yet fluent in English, ask each school directly what their current EAL capacity is in the relevant year group.
Sibling priority. All Tier 1 schools we are aware of give priority to siblings of existing students in the admissions process. If you have multiple children, mention this in your initial enquiry.
Waitlists. Several Tier 1 primary schools maintain active waitlists for popular year groups. Being on a waitlist does not guarantee a place, but it does mean your application is held for the next available space. Ask each school what their current waitlist length is for your child's year group.
What to do next
We do not tell you which Tier 1 primary school is the right fit. That depends on your curriculum preference, your location in Bangkok, your timeline in the city, and your child's specific needs and personality.
