Shrewsbury Riverside opened in 2003 and has built a reputation over two decades as one of the highest-achieving British curriculum schools in Southeast Asia. Around 1,900 students from age 3 to 18, on a spectacular campus on the banks of the Chao Phraya in Bang Kholaem. The setting is genuinely unlike any other school in Bangkok: spacious, riverside, accessible by both road and river boat, with easy links to the BTS via the Sathorn pier.
The curriculum runs British EYFS and primary through to Cambridge IGCSE and A-Levels, with admissions that are selective at all entry points. Examination results are among the strongest in the city: in 2021, 88% of IGCSEs and 86% of A-Levels achieved A or A grade. The school is affiliated with Shrewsbury School UK, founded in 1552, with close ties to the UK including staff movement and curriculum alignment.
Teachers are recruited primarily from the UK. Families choosing Riverside are predominantly Thai at secondary level, with a strong British and international cohort across all years. Fees run from 691,800 to 1,208,400 THB annually, plus a 225,000 THB place fee on entry. A sister primary campus at Rama 9 (City Campus) offers guaranteed progression to Riverside from Year 7 for families who want to start younger children in a more central location.

For Parents
Founded in 2003 on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, this selective British international day school takes students from age 3 through to age 18 and follows the English National Curriculum, leading to IGCSE and A Level. It is the flagship and senior partner of the two Shrewsbury campuses in Bangkok, drawing on a sister relationship with Shrewsbury School in England (founded 1552). Teaching is in English, with class teachers supported by specialist staff in music, drama, art, sport, Mandarin and Thai from the earliest years.
The school is academically ambitious and openly competitive in admissions, expecting strong attainment and motivation. It tends to suit families committed to a UK university pathway who want a large, full-service through-school in central Bangkok rather than a smaller boutique setting or an IB programme. Daily life centres on a 28-acre purpose-built campus with three swimming pools, two large sports halls, six tennis courts, a running track, a gymnastics hall and the Sir David Lees Innovation Centre, which houses 18 science laboratories and the Sixth Form Centre overlooking the river.
Pupils belong to one of six Houses named after Nobel Peace laureates, and from Year 3 upward each child must take part weekly in the You-Time! co-curricular programme, which lists more than 500 activity options across four BISA-aligned blocks. Sport is a clear strength, alongside performing arts, music ensembles and STEM competition teams such as VEX Robotics and F1 in Schools. The Bangkok location, in Bang Kho Laem on Charoen Krung Road, offers river-boat and road access from Sathorn and Silom. Trade-offs are real. Fees sit at the top of the Bangkok market, the school is large by international school standards at roughly 1,900 pupils across 40 nationalities, and there is no IB Diploma option, only A Levels.
Admission is selective, with English assessment, prior school references and subject testing for senior entry, so weaker EAL profiles can be redirected to the City Campus or waitlisted. There is no boarding, and the youngest entry point at Riverside is Early Years 1 at age 3, with no flexible 3 or 4-day Nursery variants. Best suited to academically capable children whose families want a rigorous British pathway, broad co-curricular life, and a credible route to Russell Group, Ivy League and other leading universities.
