Concordian is the only fully trilingual IB school in Thailand, and that distinction is the reason most families are here. Founded in 2001 and accredited by the IB, NEASC, and CIS, it offers the full IB Continuum from PYP through MYP to Diploma, with around 1,100 students from Pre-K through Grade 12.

The language structure is deliberate and sequenced: English and Mandarin Chinese full immersion from Nursery through Grade 4, with Thai taught alongside, then English as the primary language of instruction from Grade 5 upward with Chinese and Thai continuing as world languages. The result, for families who stay the course, is genuine trilingualism backed by an internationally recognised academic framework.

The school was founded by Varnnee Chearavanont Ross of the Chearavanont family, and that backing shows in the campus and facilities. Teachers come primarily from the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK, with Chinese faculty from China and Taiwan. First-year costs, including the refundable Capital Fund of 400,000 THB, typically reach 1.2M THB or above, placing this firmly in the premium tier.

The campus is at Bangna-Trat Road Km 7 in Bangkaew, Samut Prakan, in the same general corridor as Bangkok Patana, ICS, and Dulwich. No BTS or MRT nearby; families drive or use the school bus. For families where trilingual education and the full IB pathway are the primary filters, Concordian is in a category of its own in Bangkok.

What You Should Actually Know About Concordian International School

Concordian International School is a Pre-K to Grade 12 IB World School in Bangkaew, Samut Prakan, about 15 minutes south of central Bangkok on the Bangna-Trad Highway. Founded in 2001, it is the only school in Thailand authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organisation to deliver the full PYP-MYP-DP continuum in an English-Mandarin-Thai trilingual framework.

The school serves approximately 1,100 students aged 2 to 18, with around 80% Thai and the remainder drawn from over ten nationalities including American, Australian, Canadian, Chinese, Dutch, French, Israeli, Japanese, Korean, and Malaysian.

Its academic character is inquiry-based and integrative: subjects are not taught in isolation but through cross-disciplinary units, and the entire program from early years through to the Diploma is structured around IB philosophy rather than blended or supplemented with another curriculum. Class sizes range from a maximum of 16 in Pre-K to 24 in Grades 6 to 12, and a student-teacher ratio of approximately 1:8 is supported by teaching assistants in every early and primary years class.

The campus is purpose-built and architecturally notable. Its Science, Art, and Technology Centre (SATC), opened in 2013, anchors the school's commitment to arts and STEM integration, housing art galleries, science laboratories, a radio recording studio, computer labs, and a multipurpose theatre. Sports infrastructure is substantial: three air-conditioned gymnasiums, a six-lane covered 50-metre pool, a 25-metre pool, squash courts, tennis courts, a football field, and a running track.

The school's language program is its most distinctive feature: in Early Years and Primary (Nursery to Grade 4), instruction is split roughly 40% English, 40% Mandarin, and 20% Thai, delivered by native-speaking teachers in each language. From Grade 5, English becomes the main medium of instruction and Mandarin transitions to a taught language subject; Thai continues daily through Grade 5 and every other day thereafter. Students with no prior Mandarin may enter at any grade level, supported by push-in and pull-out ESL and CSL programs included in tuition. The Class of 2024 and Class of 2025 both achieved an IBDP school average of 36 points, well above the global average of around 30 points.

Families considering Concordian should weigh the Bangna location carefully: the campus is near Mega Bangna and roughly 15 minutes from Suvarnabhumi Airport, but commuting from central Bangkok or Sukhumvit during peak hours adds significant travel time, and the school does not sit on a BTS or MRT line. The student body is heavily Thai, which is a structural feature of the trilingual program rather than an oversight, but expat families seeking a more internationally diverse peer group may notice it. The school's four-month residential Life Skills Programme for Grades 8 to 12, where students live on campus and develop practical life skills, is genuinely unusual for Bangkok and signals the school's holistic priorities beyond academic results.

Concordian is best suited to families who value full trilingual immersion from an early age, a complete IB pathway to the Diploma, and a community-oriented campus where academic outcomes are clearly strong.
